Pre-gelled self-adhering disposable electrodes come in an wide variety of sizes and shapes. Typical sizes are 2"x2" for most TENS applications. They are not usually used for any NMES applications.

Similar to the reusable electrodes, the conductivity of this type of electrode is dependant on the moisture content of the plastic polymer held in contact with the skin surface by an overlying waterproof material.

Generally you are able to wear these pads for 2-3 days continuously, even having brief showers during this period. However, soaking in bathtub or hottub will destroy the electrodes very quickly.

Care must be taken that excessive wearing periods do not lead to skin irritation or even allergic reactions to the components of the electrodes. Unless very lengthy stimulation periods are required, it is usually preferable to make use of the self-adhering reusable style of pads, so that there is reduced "contact time" with the skin.
